An old man on a bike

Written by Team AEK at 21:23 2/2-2022

When Fabio Borges came to AEK, the team didn’t really know what to do with the aging superstar. His most recent seasons were far from impressive and there were questions if he was still good enough to perform well on the highest level.

Then we got the idea to give him a chance as the primary captain. For the first time, we were going to focus on one rider, breathing new life into the team, after all those seasons going for jerseys and trophies with different riders.
With support of the whole team, Borges had his best season ever with a total of 22 results, silencing all the doubters.

The seasons after that, he still performed well and recently he reached 20k career points. With that, he took over the first spot in the all-time rankings from Royce Dodemaide and the first rider to reach that milestone.

Now, almost 39 years old, Borges is still 2nd in the rider rankings, with only the already legendary cobbler Benjamim Fontes in front of him. Still not done, he wants to keep racing as long as possible.

I was so sure I would get Borges when he hit the market, but you outbid me in the end. He would never have accomplished anything close to this in my team.

  Well done!

With 20.501 pts., Fabio Borges would be the 278th best team EVER in OCM. With 15 years of OCM-history, this is simply impressive! Congrats Adilson on your bet!

You didn't mention that @38 Borges is the No 1 sprinter (by pts) as well this season. (without using TF). Incredbile!

  The true Legend!

And for the record I had to twist Adilson's arm to get him to post this. Humble in his history making achievements.
